Something about the little town of Napier

The popularity of Napier has increased dramatically during the past few years. Napier is now rated by the Tourism Board as the fourth most attractive village of the Western Cape after Montagu, Greyton and McGregor.

Top Attractions include various art galleries, a giant sundial at the municipal offices, and an Ox Wagon monument (Kakebeenwa) to commemorate the Ossewa Trek of 1838. The ox wagon monument has an impression of a wagon wheel track made in concrete to commemorate the exodus of dissident Afrikaners from the Western Cape.[3]

In the past, Napier’s main craftsmen were blacksmiths, a heritage which is commemorated by annual festivals. Other annual events are the Patatfees (Sweet Potato Festival), every June, and the “Voet van Afrika” (Foot of Africa) Marathon which is run in mid-September.

From West coast – To East coast

image

Everyone dashes off to the west coast just as the sun comes out in West Coast in spring to marvel at the tapestry of colours splashed across our landscape.

Expect endless open spaces and blue blue sky’s and a never ending road leading you straight into our beautiful and wild coast line.

The cold water is crystal blue and the cottages sprinkled along the coast.

Old and sometimes run down they make for magnificent photography. An abundance of bird life and smaller creatures of the desert. On the roads you might come across tumble weed, snakes and tortoise making their way across the vast arid land.  If you are in search of the sun, open skies and miles of open spaces then head of to the West Coast.

From Cape Town to swakopmund you will find little oasis sections of lush greenery and warm water springs and stops along the way.

Summer in Noordhoek

image

Summer in Cape Town when the wild flowers give a display of beauty and we marvel at their glory. Here in the valley of Noordhoek we have the old oak trees, nasturtiums, and lillies filling the streams. It’s like an English country were horses still pass your home on the way to the endless white sand beaches.

image

A place of tranquil beauty and nature.  A holiday destination 20 minutes from the centre of Cape Town and boulders were the penguins roam freely on the beaches.

What a joy it is to live in this area. Watch out for the Christmas markets, the wine farms and mountain views.

This was brought to you by The Daisy Collection of Adult Colouring Books.  Designed and created in this beautiful valley.  For more information. Www.carinmaehr.com And for information on accommodation visit our Noordhoek information website.

Spring Flowers ..Sunshine

Our garden in summer is taken over by nasturtiums, some might consider them a weed but here in the heart of Noordhoek the are welcomed as they spread out their lush leaves. What is to follow is a magnificent display of colour butterflies and sun.

The Daisy Collection, a collection of hand illustrated grown up colouring books was born out of a love for nature and the peace you find in a garden.

The first book Flowers and Gardens has illustrations of Lillies,Proteas, and the country side.

These books have been designed on special high quality paper, Carin Maehr the artist and illustrator who trained under one of South Africa’s finest watercolour artists May O’Shea. Carin wanted you to have the option to either colour in or paint, so the  books were designed with this in mind.

This can also be done with Aqua pencil crayons. This below is an extract from The Daisy Collection “Flowers and Gardens”.   For more information visit the website http://www.carinmaehr.com for orders.

Extract from very happy clients can be found on the Web page.
